Training Curriculum

During the first 3 years, the resident is assigned rotations of one to three months in duration in anatomical or clinical pathology.  This balances the experiences in both clinical and anatomical pathology for each year.  During the first 2 years, there is an emphasis on acquiring basic skills and knowledge with core rotations in each area of specialty.  During the 3rd and 4th years, there is an emphasis on advanced training and further honing of skills.  Thus, during the first 2 years the resident will rotate through general anatomical pathology, cytology (2nd year residents and above), electron microscopy, basic hematology, blood banking, chemistry, and microbiology.  During the 3rd year, the resident will rotate through general AP and more advanced training in the various areas of clinical pathology.  The fourth year is designed with the program director for educational experience in a specific area(s) of interest.
